March marks the celebration of International Women’s Day – their collective achievements, perseverance, and a reminder that there is much work still to be done. We are also proudly participating, by hosting a month-long set of initiatives that support women and the YWCA Toronto.
Housed in the very same building that was home to the original YWCA Toronto in the late 1800s, Elmwood Spa has a long-standing relationship with this association which helps women escape violence, move out of poverty and access safe, affordable housing while breaking down barriers that hold women back from achieving equality. Throughout the years, we have proudly supported their efforts, and are excited to continue honouring our roots with a number of contributions this month. See all the ways that you can participate below!

YWCA & The Elmwood Story
The historic site of Elmwood Spa was once the original location of YWCA Toronto. In 1892, YWCA Toronto opened a 70 bedroom residence at 18 Elm Street. Over a hundred years later, YWCA Toronto continues to respond to the needs of women– helping them escape violence, move out of poverty and access safe, affordable housing. YWCA Toronto works tenaciously to break down barriers that hold women back from achieving equality. We are proud of our long standing history and partnership with YWCA Toronto.
